Ponteland United 4 - Cullercoats 2

After 3 months without a match the under 10s couldnt have had a tougher return than a game against the unbeaten league leaders Ponteland United.

Cullercoats gave a good account of themselves but it was united who struck first with a sloppy goal after Cullercoats defence failed to clear.   The seasiders rallied and were soon level thanks to Luke Monaghans 16th goal of the season as he toe poked home following a mistake from the United Keeper.   Monaghan then turned provider when his excellent corner was met by the Head of Lewis Williamson who glanced the ball over the Ponteland Keeper to give Cullercoats a shock lead.

Some great battling from Louis Ross and Oliver young in particular kept United at bay until just before half time when the league leaders snatched an equaliser following another lapse in concentration.   Steven Taylor almost hit back immediatley though with a fantastic 25 yard strike that thundered against the bar with the United Keeper well beaten.

United made their superior speed and fitness levels pay in the second half when they added another two goals but cullercoats can think themselves unlucky to get nothing from the game

MOM :  Lewis Williamson
