Match report for the U10's

Cullercoats played New Fordley on Saturday and were fantastic from start to finish.

With a large squad of 12 the team was rotated throughout the game but that did not prevent Cullercoats playing some beautiful football resulting in an 11-0 win.

At home time the score line was 5-0 and should have been more if not for some good goal keeping and last gasp defending from New Fordley.

The final score was 11-0 and the goalscorers were Will Smith and Liam O'Neil with hatricks, Oliver symons with a brace them, Matthew Anderson, Joshua Giacomini and Philip Dunning with one each.

This was a fantastic result and a great way to start the season for the Under 10's.

Match report for the U10's

Cullercoats played the game against Ponteland with a lot of confidence taken from last weeks result and played some excellent football which opened Ponteland up time and time again. The half time came with Cullercoats ahead by 5 goals with goal from Symons 2, Dunning, Summers and Smith.

At half time the wind picked up but cullercoats kept the pressure on and played the ball well on the floor and scored a further three. With Symons completing his hatrick and Sheriff and O'Neil with a goal a piece.

The score line could have been more, but with Ponteland goalkeeper being man of the match it tells its on story.

Match Report - Cullercoats FC Under 8s v Forest Hall Blues (25/9/10)

The Under 8s took on a very strong Forest Hall Blues team for their second match in the KYPC Under 8s ‘Friendly’ League at Killingworth, after having a free weekend last week.

They were able to field a full team (7 players), with the debut of Leighton Alexander (midfield), who made an impressive start with his new squad.

The first half was dominated, in the main, by Forest Hall who were full of running. However, Cullercoats played their part with other midfielders, Connor Sherriff (captain) and Joseph Hornby working hard to win the ball and create chances for Jack Reid (striker).

Once again, Harvey Thompson played in goal in the absence of a keeper and made some excellent first half saves. However, following early pressure, Forest Hall were able to convert two early chances to take a 2-0 lead. Ryan Norris and Daniel Brewis (defence) were kept busy throughout and made some great tackles and clearances with the assistance of their midfield team mates. Forest Hall added a third just before half time to stretch their lead.

The second half was much closer and both teams were able to cancel each other out for long spells. Daniel Brewis took over the keeper duties and this released Harvey Thompson into midfield where he made some excellent tackles and clearances in a competitive second half. Leighton Alexander switched to defence where he made an excellent contribution with strong tackles and clearances, which caught the eye of the coaching staff !

Connor Sherriff and Jack Reid both went close with efforts before Forest Hall added a fourth on the break. The match ended 4-0 to Forest Hall, who deserved their victory on the day. However, Cullercoats were unlucky not to score and fought hard throughout the second half in particular.

Leighton Alexander was awarded the ‘man of the match’ award by the coaches for his impressive debut; particularly in defence.

The Under 8s training this week will start at 5.15pm – 6.15pm due to the loss of light.

Match Report - HEXHAM FC 1 - 0 CULLERCOATS

Under 11s - 25/9/10

Cullercoats 3 match unbeaten run was ended in cruel circumstances after a long trip to Hexham on Saturday morning.  Playing downhill first half on a steep sloping pitch Cullercoats battered Hexham in the opening period but had left their shooting boots at home on this occassion.  Strikers Luke Monaghan and Steven Taylor both found themselves through on goal but seemed intimidated at times by the Giant Hexham Keeper who proved impossible to beat.   Josh Irwins trickery on the right wing caused no end of problems for the Hexham defence and his cross was almost turned in by Monaghan at the far post but his left footed effort screwed just wide.  Hexham rarely troubled the Cullercoats defence early on but managed to lead 1-0 at half time as Cullercoats failed to clear the ball for the first and only time in the match and paid the ultimate price.  The second half proved to be quite literally an uphill struggle as the away side could not get forward on enough occassions to really threaten the Hexham rearguard who stood firm.  A surging run and cross from Lewis Williamson at right back was the closest Cullercoats came to a second half equaliser, but the ball just wasnt meant to fall to a striker as Hexham cleared. Some outstanding defending from David Shipley and Oliver young meant that Tony Blacklock was rarely put to the test in goal as Hexham held on to go above Cullercoats in the league Table.

Match Report - CULLERCOATS 4 - 2 Seaton Deleval

22 Setpember  Under 11s

Cullercoats won for the third consecutive game on a wet night against local rivals seaton delavel.  Josh Irwin scored his first league goal for the club midway through the first half when he used his pace to latch onto a loose ball and lob the keeper from outside the box.   Steven Taylor scored a controversial second goal as the Deleval keeper lay injured following a collision, Taylor played to the whistle and dispatched the ball into the open net.   Another fine penalty from the dependable Aaron Dixon made it 3-0 before half time as Cullercoats were looking comfortable.  Luke Monaghan made it 4-0 early in the second half before Lewis Williamson hit a post and Joe Logan and Louis Ross were denied by some last ditch deleval defending.   Delavel finished the stronger side as Cullercoats Skipper Oliver Young was withdrawn big holes then appeared in the home sides defence and the visitors made for a grandstand finish with a couple of late goals and also forced a world class save from Tony Blacklock late in the game.

Match Report - PONTELAND UNITED (BARCA) 1  -  CULLERCOATS 4

Cullercoats made it 2 wins from 3 league games with a hard earned win away at Ponteland.   The visitors started the game in slow motion but managed to go into the interval 1-0 ahead thanks to a fine strike from Charlie James which found the top corner.   Cullercoats soon found another gear in the second half and went further ahead with Louis Ross scoring his first goal for the club when he somehow managed to force the ball home despite lying on the floor after a goalmouth scramble.   Top scorer Luke Monaghan soon added a third to put the result beyond doubt but Ponteland continued to press forward and cause problems for the cullercoats defence who thanked the safe hands of keeper Tony Blacklock on many occassions.  Davids shipleys substition in the culleroats defence left a gap that was exploited by Pontelands right winger who found the net with a fine finish.   Monaghans second goal of the game after a good interchange with Josh Irwin settled the away teams nerves but Ponteland can think themselves unlucky to be on the wrong end of a 4-1 scoreline

Match Report - Stocksfield   2   -   5  Cullercoats (under 11s)

Luke Monaghans first half hatrick inspired Cullercoats to their maiden victory at 11aside level.   Last seasons top scorer struck after only 2 minutes following some good work down the right hand side from Lewis Williamson and Josh Irwin released Monaghan who struck a finish across the outstretched arms of the stocksfield Keeper.  Luke soon followed that up when he bundled in An Aaron Dixon corner before Joe Logan made it 3-0 when he headed in a rebound from a fierce Steven Taylor drive that struck the underside of the Bar.   Monaghans excellent turn and shot from the edge of the box put the result beyond doubt as Cullercoats went into the Interval 4-0 ahead.    Some changes were made at half time to give valuable match experience to newcomers Ryan Occonnor and Ethan Dickinson as Cullercoats started the second half slowly.   Stocksfield Managed to pull one back 10 minutes into the second half before hesitation between goalkeeper and defence allowed the home side to further reduce the arrears to 4-2.   Skipper Oliver young settled the away sides nerves with a bursting run and shot that took a wicked deflection off a Stocksfield defender and found the back of the net.   All in all a much improved Cullercoats display with an excellent display from inexperienced defenders Reece Ackinclose and Ethan Dickinson offering plenty of encouragement.

Match Report - Cullercoats 2  Cramlington United 5

The Under 11s began life as an 11aside team with an opening day defeat at the hands of Cramlington United.   The First half was nip and tuck with both sides creating chances but failing to break the stalemate early on.  Cullercoats forced a corner just before the half time whistle but were caught on the break as the faster running cramlington forwards surged forward and overwhelmed the cullercoats defence to go into the interval 1-0 ahead.   This had a major effect on Cullercoats who went to pieces during a ten minute spell early in the second half and found themselves on the wrong end of a 4-0 scoreline as time and again they failed to clear their lines.  Last seasons top scored Luke Monaghan opened his account for the season with a well taken finish to pull one back but Cramlington Soon restored their four goal advantage as they again outpaced the cullercoats defence.  Cullercoats restored some respect to the scoreline when Joe Logan collected an excellent pass from midfielder Aaron Dixon and whipped in a fine cross which was finished by Charlie James.
Cullercoats are still an inexperienced team with 5 new signings this year but need to learn fast and build up speed and fitness in particular if they are to have any success this season.

MOM Oliver Young (skipper was commanding in defence until his early departure through injury)

Match Report - Cullercoats FC U8s v Longbenton Juniors U8s (11/09/10)

The newly formed Cullercoats FC U8s team played their first ‘friendly league’ match at Killingworth Young Peoples Centre on Saturday 11th September 2010, in bright and sunny conditions.

The team only have 7 registered players for the start of the season and they were a player short for this match, due to last minute illness for keeper, Callum Geoghan. However, re-enforcements are on the way !!

Cullercoats started strongly and took control of the midfield area. Connor Sherriff (midfield, captain) and Joseph Hornby (midfield) dominated possession through the central areas. Joseph was playing in his first  competitive match, after joining the squad only 24 hours earlier. Longbenton struggled to cope with the strength and pace of Connor Sherriff and he created numerous opportunities for Jack Reid (striker), who opened the scoring with a well taken effort when put through one-on-one with the keeper. He added a second quickly afterwards with another close finish, before completing his first half hat-trick with a powerful finish, after creating space for himself.

Harvey Thompson (midfield) stepped in as keeper in the absence of Callum Geoghan and made several good catches, as well as kicking well throughout the match. He was ably assisted by Daniel Brewis and Ryan Norris (defence), who were in excellent form. The score finished 3-0 at half time.

The second half continued the same way, with Cullercoats dominating possession and making all the running. Connor Sherriff continued to be the key player with his pace and passing game and Jack Reid caused havoc up front !!

Jack Reid added two further goals to take his tally to 5, as the team dominated play. The Longbenton keeper had an excellent game and his team continued to work hard, but could not create chances. Connor Sherriff hit the bar with a penalty, following a hand-ball in the area and Harvey Thompson made an excellent save, before changing roles with Daniel Brewis for the last 10 minutes. The game ended 5-0 to Cullercoats.

This was a first class display from a very promising young side, who will be tough to beat this season. Jack Reid was awarded ‘man of the match’ for his goals and fighting spirit up front, but there was special praise for Connor Sherriff, who dominated the central areas and made all the running.

A great team performance overall. Well done.
