Prudhoe Youth Club Reds   3  - 4 Cullercoats

The under 11s produced an amazing display of grit and determination to win away at the previously unbeaten Prudhoe.   Showing a real passion and will to Win Cullercoats took an Early lead thanks to the lethal Luke Monaghan who turned on a sixpence and rattled in the opener from the edge of the box.   Prudhoe somewhat fortunatley equalised when the previously underworked  Tony Blacklock was beaten by the elements as a slippery ball eluded him and found the back of the net.  This inspired Cullercoats and Monaghan produced another excellent finish as the Under 11s midfield trio of Steven Taylor/Charlie Barbrook and Aaron Dixon continued to pull the strings.   Prudhoe went in level at half time when only their second shot of the match took an awkward bobble in front of Tony and bounced to a reds forward who duly dispatched it.   Again Cullercoats showed an element of maturity in the second half and some excellent work on the right wing from Ethan Dickinson found Luke in Space again and the prolific striker notched his hattrick.  Cullercoats were now under immense pressure from the home side who seemed to find another gear and deservedly equalised this time despite the efforts of Reece Ackinclose and Oliver Young.  Determined to steal the 3 points the under 11s went on the attack again and the home side could not handle monaghans pace and trickery in the box again and as his shot was parried, Aaron Dixon followed up and kept his nerve to fire Cullercoats into the lead with 5 minutes on the clock.  A nervy ending to the game ensued but Cullercoats held firm thanks to some excellent last ditch defending and jubilant celebrations followed as the final whistle was blown.

MOTM:  The whole team  9/10

Cullercoats U9's v KYPC Galaxy

A great game to watch with both sides playing good football. Cullercoats dominated the play and were pressing forward searching for an opening goal. After some good chances which cullercoats were unable to convert into a lead, the first half ended 0-0. The second half started the same as the first had ended with cullercoats asking all of the questions. On the rare occasion galaxy got a chance Scott McKie the cullercoats keeper was quick to snuff it out. Cullercoats broke the deadlock with a wonder strike from Jack Stronach into the top corner, there was only going to be one winner after that. A great team performance and a well deserved victory in hard conditions with some great individual performances from Matthew Williamson, Kieron Smith, Jack Stronach, Matthew sharp and MOTM Scott McKie. Full time score cullercoats 1 KYPC Galaxy 0.

Well done lads.

Match Report - CULLERCOATS U11s  1 - 8 PONTELAND MAGPIES U11s

The Under 11s were outmuscled by last seasons league champions and current leaders.   Cullercoats gave too much respect to their opponents early on and allowed themselves to be pushed off the ball on far to many occasions in the first half which resulted in a 5-0 deficit at half time.   The under 11s were instructed to play with more fire in the bellies in the second half and duly obliged getting themselves stuck in a lot more and at times outplayed their opponents in the second half.   Luke Monaghan’s excellent second half effort was all they had to show for their efforts during a tough encounter.

Player Ratings :  Tony 5, Jack 7, David 6, Oliver 7, Reece 4 (injured) , Joe 6, Josh 8 (mom), Aaron 6, Charlie 6, Louis 7, Luke 7, Ryan 5, Lewis 7, Steven 6, Ethan 5.

Match Report - Whitley Bay Boys Club U11s  3 - 3 Cullercoats U11s

The Under 11s fought out a 3-3 draw with Local rivals Whitley Bay Boys Club.   Luke Monaghans neat finish in the first half was the difference between the two teams at half time as cullercoats just shaded the opening exchanges.   Aarons Dixons near post corner put Cullercoats 2-0 ahead early in the second half.   Whitley Bay hit back straight away and a Mistimed Oliver Young tackle took out a Whitley Striker and as the referee played advantage the home side pulled a goal back.  Cullercoats again seemed to press the self destruct button for a short spell and the home side snatched an equaliser after some poor Cullercoats defending.   The Prolific Luke Monaghan struck again with 5 minutes on the clock to restore Cullercoats advantage but Whitley made the most of corner late on to snatch an equaliser.

Player Ratings:  Tony 7 (mom) Lewis 6, David 7,  Oliver 6, Ethan 6, Aaron 7, Charlie 6, Josh 7, Ryan 6, Luke 7, Steven 6, Louis 6, Joe 6, Jack 6.

Match Report - Cullercoats FC U8s v Forest Hall Reds U8s (02/10/10)

The Under 8s were in action against a strong Forest Hall Reds squad at Killingworth & Young Peoples Centre on Saturday 2nd October 2010, in the Under 8s ‘friendly’ league. They were looking to bounce back after their first defeat of the season the weekend before.

The Under 8s came flying out of the blocks and made the early running, with their midfield taking control in the central areas through captain, Connor Sherriff, who was ably assisted by Harvey Thompson and Joseph Hornby (midfield).

Daniel Brewis stepped in as keeper on the day and was well protected by Ryan Norris and Leighton Alexander (defence), as they kept Forest Hall at bay in an entertaining first half.

Ryan Norris made the break-through when the ball came to him just inside the Forest Hall half on the left. He did not hesitate for a moment and required no controlling touch, as he sent a first time shot from distance over the keeper and into the far corner of the net. It was quite simply an unstoppable shot for the team’s goal of the season to date.

Jack Reid (striker) worked tirelessly up front, winning challenging, throw-ins and creating opportunities for his midfield. However, the first half remained tight and the Under 8s went in with the 1-0 lead at the break.

The second half started the same as the first with the Under 8s pressing for a second goal. Harvey Thompson went close with an excellent left foot drive, which was turned around the post by an excellent keeper in the Forest Hall goal.

Connor Sherriff struck the bar direct from a corner and created other chances from corners and throw-ins, as the Under 8s pushed on. At the other end Daniel Brewis made a fine save at his feet to protect the lead and late on Ryan Norris made a spectacular goal-line clearance from a goal-bound shot to secure the points.

Special praise was handed out to Leighton Alexander and Harvey Thompson who both made a number of crucial tackles in midfield and defence, but ‘man of the match’ was awarded to Ryan Norris for scoring the crucial goal and his last minute goal-line clearance which ensured that the win was secured with the 1-0 victory. All 7 players played their part on the day.

A special mention goes out to young 7 year old (just turned!) Dillon, who was unfortunate not to make his debut in goal. However, his chance will come very soon.
