Under 12 s v Ponteland Barca

U12  CULLERCOATS  4  - 1  PONTELAND BARCA

A first half scoring spree from Charlie James was enough to give Cullercoats the points against a subdued ponteland side today. An excellent corner from Luke in the 3rd minute saw Charlie open his account with a flicked header before he added a second in similar circumstances following another corner this time from Oliver. Charlie completed his hattrick on 22 minutes after Davids shot was beaten out following another corner and Charlie tucked the ball home for 3-0. Luke Monaghan and Ethan Dickinson were causing problems for the Barca defenders but the usual prolific luke had left his shooting boots at home this time as he couldnt find the net. Substitutes Josh Urwin and Steven Turner combined on 25 minutes to put the game beyond doubt with Steven turning home his second goal of the season when following in Joshs long range shot. What followed was a hugely disappointing display from Cullercoats who forgot all about their teamwork ethic and they looked more like an under 8 team in search of individual glory. Despite being warned about this complacency at half time the lads continued to shoot from silly distances and tried to beat one defender too many when team mates were better positioned. As a result Barca looked the better team second half and scored a deserved consolation late on. On a positive note the lads did defend very well today but the forwards in particular need to learn to work together much more if we are to acheive success this season. MOM to Ethan for his best ever performance in a cullercoats shirt and his combination with Lewis Williamson and Jack Ashworth down the right worked very well all game.

Under 12s v Killingworth

CULLERCOATS U12    3   KILLINGWORTH  2
Cullercoats can count themselves somewhat fortunate to walk away with 3 points on a day when they didnt perform as well as they can. The first half was poor as KYPC dominated most of the play and Cullercoats seemed to struggle with the hard pitch and the heat (in october???). 0-0 was the halftime score as cullercoats defended well but their midfielders wanted too much time on the ball and were often too easily disposessed by a KYPC player. The second half started much better for the home side and they scored a good opening goal when Charlie James had a good effort well saved and the follow up was turned in by Steven Turner for his first goal for the team. Killingworth didnt take long to equalise as a difficult looping ball caused Nicholas all sorts of problems in the sun and his attempt to clear saw the ball drop at the feet of a red shirt. Josh was fouled soon afterwards in a dangerous position and Oliver Stepped up with a fine left footed free kick that gave the Killi Keeper no chance. Again the visitors didnt give up and seemed to snatch an equaliser with a minute on the clock as cullercoats defence seemed to be tiring. The lads showed great character however and scored again right at the death as Lewis just about managed to keep the ball in play down the right and played a fantastic ball through to Luke who kept his composure very well to slot in the winner.

Under 12s v Blackfyne

CULLERCOATS   4    -   3   BLACK FYNE
Luke 3
Josh

Cullercoats had to work hard for a good win over newcomers Black Fyne. Luke started the scoring after just 3 minutes he followed up on Joshs excellent long range effort. Black Fyne were by now looking the better passing side and scored a deserved equaliser on 12 mins. Luke put cullercoats ahead when he capitalised on a mix up in the fyne defence to slot underneath a stranded keeper. Black Fyne again had cullercoats on the back foot and a succession of corners finally paid off when Cullercoats failed to defend the second ball. Luke nabbed his hattrick shortly before half time to send the home side ahead 3-2 at the break. Black Fyne were still looking the stronger side but it was an Error from Skipper oliver when his poorly taken goal kick was finished in clinical style. A tactical switch paid off for Cullercoats soon after when josh was switched to the left wing and he duly cut inside after some good work from Charlie and finished in lethal fashion. The away side put cullercoats under some immense pressure and only some good goalkeeping from Nicholas and outstanding battling from David, Steven and Lewis in midfield kept them at bay. Oliver later went off injured after a nasty collision with Reece but Cullercoats still held on for a hard earned win.

Under 12s v Newcastle East End

NEWCASTLE EAST END   3  -  2  CULLERCOATS
                                                Oliver
                                                Luke (pen)

Cullercoats fell behind early on as despite a lenghty team talk they failed to fight for the ball in the penalty area and conceded a soft goal. Cullercoats played the better football for the rest of the first half but conceded again towards half time as they were made to pay again for hesitation. Oliver pulled a goal back just after the break when Davids well take corner found the skipper unmarked at the near post and he somehow deflected the ball in. Jack unfortunatley restored the home sides two goal advantage when he turned in an own goal following a scramble in the 6 yeard box. Luke scored a fine penalty late in the game but Cullercoats couldnt find an equaliser. A much improved performance from the lads after last seasons 10-2 scoreline at the same venue and with  players missing. Special mention for Oliver Symons who stepped up from the Under 11s and gave an outstanding performance in midfield.

U10's Whites v Wallsend BC Valencia

This was a great game from the first whistle, both teams were playing great football. The game was end to end with wallsend opening the scoring late in the first half. The whites had plenty of opportunities but couldn't get the ball in the goal. Second half was like the first in that both teams kept on playing good attacking football, wallsend scored 2 goals in quick succession but the whites never dropped their heads and kept going. The wallsend keeper made some great saves to keep the whites out. A late pen tucked away by Mathew Williamson gave the whites hope but time was against them. Great display by the whites who deserved more out of the game. Result whites1-wallsend3. M.O.M JACK PATTERSON

Under 10s Whites v Wallsend

A great performance by everyone. Great defending in the1st half by Jack Stronach and Mathew Williamson also great attacking football going forward. Kieron Smith put some deadly corners in to the box which were begging to be put in the back of the net. At half time the whites were 2 goals to the good with Jack Tomaselli grabbing both. Second half was much the same with the whites playing down the flanks and causing all sorts of problems in the opposition area. Jack Tomaselli grabbed a 3rd to make it 3-0 but a dubious ref decision gave wallsend a penalty which was converted but the whites kept their heads up and pressed for more goals. End result was well deserved well done lads. M.O.M Kieron Smith

Under 9s v Forest Hall

A great start from cullercoats pressing from the off. Some good passing football being played throughout the team. Forest hall took the lead but cullercoats still kept going forward, Kieron smith got the ball over the goal line but the ref didn't give the goal. Forest hall got a dodgy penalty decision but justice was done when keeper Scott mckie saved the spot kick. Second half was much like the first with plenty of attacking football. Forest hall scored again to take the lead but cullercoats never say die attitude payed of when birthday boy Jack patterson got the equiliser. Great performance all round. Man of the match Jack Patterson

CULLERCOATS 5 - 3 WALLSEND COMMUNITY

Cullercoats battled through to the 2nd round of the East Division cup with an entertaining win over a well organised Wallsend side.
Luke started the scoring after ten minutes when he latched onto a forward ball from oliver and his cross/shot deceived the wallsend keeper.
Wallsends forwards were causing Cullercoats problems with their pace and they managed a deserved equaliser soon after when a Tony spilled a speculative long range effort 1-1.
Luke soon restored Cullercoats lead when he scored from close range following excellent work on the left from Charlie J.
Again Wallsend hit back before half time when one of their midfielders stole into the box unmarked.
Oliver went off injured soon after as cullercoats had to reorganise at Half time with Lewis dropping into centre back to cover for the skipper.
The midfield trio of Charlie B, Steven and Ethan were instructed to get tighter to their men in the second half and win more tackles and they duly obliged as Cullercoats started to take control .
Josh used his pace on the left to latch onto a great ball from Joe to pus us back in front at 3-2 early in the second half.
Again Wallsend didn't give up and managed an equaliser on 40 minutes when Lewis was outpaced and Tony came rushing out of his goal only to fail to get a good clearance as the Wallsend forward stroked into an empty net.
Again Cullercoats showed great Character and Charlie James scored a blinder on 45 minutes from outside the area to restore our lead at 4-3.
Jack was having a good game at right back despite letting himself down on occasions with his attitude but he did manage a great goal line clearance to keep us in front at this stage.
A controversial goal from Josh late on wrapped up the points as he finished from another through ball from Charlie J after the referee had pulled rank on his linesman who hadn't been keeping up with play.
5-3 was an excellent result today against a decent Wallsend team and the lads battled well second half with many players being asked to play out of position at times.

Under 9s v Longbenton

A great desire from the kick off to attack Longbenton in search of a goal.

Some great passing in the midfield between Jack Stronach, Mathew Sharp and Kieron Smith trying to feed lone striker James Branning which resulted in alot of corners but due to the muddy goalmouth it was always going to be difficult to score.
Cullercoats were awarded a penalty for a hand ball which was tucked away by birthday boy James Branning. Longbenton equilised not long after and the half finished 1-1.

Second half started in the same fashion as the first with cullercoats asking all of the questions. With some fresh legs on it was only a matter of time before the lead was restored via Ben Hall who grabbed two goals to make it 3-1. Jack Stronach scored a fourth from an accute angle. Some brave goalkeeping by Scott Mckie kept the score in cullercoats favour. Mathew Sharp pushed up from defense to add another goal making it 5-1. Cullercoats kept pushing for more goals with Kieron Smith pulling the strings in midfield picking out some great passes and through balls.

The game finished 5-1 and it was a great team effort with some great football played Kieron Smith was awarded man of the match. The coaches went home very happy and proud well done lads,

Chris.

Under 12s Match Report

Seaton Delavel 1 Cullercoats 6 (under 12)
Charlie 2, Luke 2, Josh, Steven

Charlie B stepped in as Captain and inspired a superb cullercoats win away to Seaton Delavel. A Make shift team was assembled with regular centre backs Oliver and Reece both missing but the lads that stepped in did excellent jobs. Charlie opened the scoring with a fantastic strike on the half volley following up on a rebounded effort from Tony. Josh was causing problems all afternoon down the right flank and he turned provider for the second goal with a great through ball which was finished well by Luke. Luke repayed the compliment shortly after when he squared the ball accross the delavel keeper and laid on an easy finish for Josh at the far post. At the start of the second half Charlie scored a goal almost identical to his first with another fierce drive from outside the area. Goal number four came from another great through ball this time from David who found Luke in space and the prolific hitman made no mistake in one of the most simple goals you will ever see. Cullercoats still werent finished and finally converted one of their many corners when Aarons fine delivery was turned in at the near post by Steven. The home side managed a late consolation from the penalty spot after Josh lost concentration in the box and clearly handled. Overall an excellent performance from a team missing some key players and it was really good to see the lads put into practice some of the things we had been working on in training, in particuar through balls which resulted in three of the goals. Also fitness levels seem to have improved as despite only 1 sub the lads kept performing well right until the final whistle.

Cullercoats FC Development Group - Latest News

Len Renham (club secretary) represented the development group at a pre-planned meeting with North Tyneside Council at The Quadrant, Wallsend, on Friday 27th May 2011. The meeting was instigated by the council following the conclusion of the club’s six week local community consultation programme, undertaken in partnership with Northumbria University (Sports Science Division).

A development group letter was submitted at the meeting indicating the club’s intention to progress to a formal appeal process, supported with information from the local consultation. This relates to the council’s refusal to grant an extended lease for the Links Avenue site in 2010.

The meeting was very positive, with the following outcomes:

·         Further development of the senior pitch will be discussed at a site visit on Tuesday 31st May 2011 – includes seeding, rolling and spiking to improve quality of surface
·         Survey of the changing facility with a view to establishing requirements for Football Foundation funding for new build, in line with current regulations and club requirements
·         Agreement that the council will progress the issuing of a 25 year lease (in the short term) to Cullercoats Football Club

Other short term club requirements were discussed and progressed.

These developments represent significant progress for the club and real promise for the year ahead. On behalf of the development group I wish to commend Len for his sterling work in progressing the interests of the club at this meeting.

A further ‘latest news’ bulletin will follow during the summer.

Best Wishes,

Gary Stephenson
Development Officer / Level 2 FA Coach

A poor start to the first half cost the Under 11s a chance to progress in this years cup tournament.    Despite dominating the first 10 minutes cullercoats fell behind when a weak shot slipped underneath Tony Blacklock to give KYPC the lead with their first attack.   Cullercoats again had more of the ball but forwards Josh Irwin, Luke Monaghan and Charlie James left their shooting boots at home and the under 11s paid the price again when KYPC scored with just their second attack of the match as Tony failed to deal with a comfortable catch and spilled the ball in front of a thankful Killie forward.   2-0 down at Half time it was hoped the under 11s would come out fighting with a new formation but they soon shot themselves in the foot again with more poor defending from a corner allowing the ball to drop inside the box and a killingworth forward stabbing the ball home for a 3-0 lead.   Charlie James wasted a good chance to get cullercoats back in the game when it seemed easier to score he somehow dragged his shot wide before the previously ineffective Luke Monaghan stabbed home a goal to give the under 11s some hope.  There was no way back though as the under 11s could not get their act together late in the game and despite KYPC failing to get out of their own half for much of the second half they defended well as cullercoats remained frustrated.
Ultimatley a hugely disappointing result as big things were expected given the fact that the under 11s had beaten KYPC twice in recent weeks
