Under 11s Match Report

PONTELAND MAGPIES  5  -  1  CULLERCOATS

The under 11s returned to league action for the first time since November with a tough encounter against league leaders ponteland magpies.   Cullercoats shocked the home side early on when a thunderous freekick from skipper oliver young was turned in at the far post by Luke Monaghan.  The home side failed to break down an excellent cullercoats defence with Reece Ackinclose, Lewis Williamson and David Shipley being well marshalled by Young for the best part of the first half.   On 20 mins the home side forced a fortunate equaliser when a speculative clearance from a defender mananged to sail over the helpless Tony Blacklock (who had earlier pulled off a world class save at his near post).  The home side then took the lead when their linesman failed to flag a ball that was clearly over the line and Cullercoats failed to play to the whistle and found themselves 2-1 down at half time.   Substitutes Joe Logan and Ethan Dickinson were given a run out in the second half replacing the faultless Charlie Barbrook and Steven Taylor.  The home sides ability to shoot from distance meant they added 3 further goals late in the second half but Cullercoats continued to cause Ponteland problems with the speed and trickery of Josh Irwin and Charlie James on the wings.  Despite some pretty football cullercoats couldnt get a consolation goal in the second half as they tried to walk the ball in at times rather than test the home keeper.  All in all a very spirited display from Cullercoats and the management of the Magpies admitted it was their toughest game of the season so far.
