CULLERCOATS 3 WHITLEY BAY BOYS CLUB 1
Monaghan 1
James 1
Shipley 1
The under 11s returned to winning ways against Local Rivals Whitley Bay. With both teams locked on 22 league points and the last 3 league fixtures all ending in draws another close encounter was anticipated. With Influential Midfielders Aaron Dixon and Steven Taylor on the injured list, cullercoats adopted a new tactic and looked to catch their opponents on the break from Long balls with David Shipley coming into midfield from left back. Indeed it was thanks to a fierce Shipley shot midway through the first half that Cullercoats took the lead as the Whitley Bay keeper could only parry the ball into the Path of Luke Monaghan. Whitley soon levelled with an unstoppable free kick after Joe Logan had hauled down a tricky forward on the edge of the Box. With the Halftime Score at 1-1 Cullercoats began to take control of the game and an Excellent defence splitting pass from Lewis Williamson found Charlie James who made no mistake when through one on one with the Keeper to put Cullercoats ahead. Whitley began to dominate for a while in search of an equaliser but the central defensive pairing of Oliver Young and Reece Ackinclose continues to get stronger by the week as Whitley rarely threatened Tony Blacklock. David Shipley wrapped things up with 10 mins on the clock when his long clearance from the Halfway line was dropped into the Net by the unfortunate Keeper.
Tony 7, Lewis 8, Joe 7, Reece 8 (MOM) Oliver 8, Charlie B 7, Ethan 7, Josh 7, Luke 8, David 8, Charlie James 7, Ryan 7, Jack 8
