Longhouton 3 Cullercoats 4

A hat-trick from Josh Irwin helped cullercoats overturn an early 2-0 deficit against a lively Longhouton team on a lovely pitch.  Despite starting the game well, cullercoats switched off twice in the first half to allow the home side to score twice against the run of play and take an early lead.  Josh pulled one back on 20 mins before Aaron dispatched a penalty just on half time after a foul on Steven Turner to make the half time score 2-2.  Josh struck his 2nd with a great finish early in the second half before finishing off his hat-trick after great work from Aidan who laid on a great cross.  Cullercoats again seemed to switch off defensively as the home side ensured a tense finish with a late goal but the lads battled well and held out for a good 4-3 win.   Man of the Match was voted as new signing Luke Taylor with also some excellent candidates with great displays from Lewis Williamson and Josh with his first hat-trick for the club.

Cullercoats 1 - 3 Hexham Greens

The lads got their league season off and running against strong
physical opposition from Hexham.   Cullercoats started the game better
and created a number of chances but their shooting was poor as Josh
and Steven struggled to get any power behind their shots when faced
with the away sides goalkeeper in 1-1 situations.  Against the run of
play Hexham struck first when a long ball over the top allowed one of
their pacey forwards to nip in and score,  the rest of the first half
was pretty even with both sides giving their all but it was Hexham who
struck again with a well finished strike to lead 2-0 at the break.  We
felt this was not a disaster as the lads were always going to be under
pressure in the first half kicking uphill and they could make a
comeback in the second half.  Ultimately it was not to be our day and
when Aidan struck the crossbar with a thumping header and Aaron's long
range strike just missed the far post it seemed we were not destined
to score today.  Hexham killed the game off with a third goal with 10
mins on the clock before Aidan finally managed to break through after
some good work on the right from Steven.  On the positive side there
were some good individual performances today particularly from Dan,
Charlie, Lewis and Tony and the lads played some good football in
spells but they seemed to struggle to adapt to the bigger pitch
against stronger opposition who are simply capable of clearing their
lines better at the moment.  Man of the Match today was Tony who had
an excellent game in the first half as a stand in Right back and then
pulled off a couple of great saves in the second half.

Prudhoe Tournament - Plate Win

The Under 13s collected their first silverware of the season with a
hard earned plate win at Prudhoe.  The lads started the day with a
comfortable 3-1 win over KYPC with goals from Aaron, Josh and Aidan
going some way to making up for last months cup final loss against the
same opponents.   A 0-0 draw against North Shields followed meaning
the lads needed a win over unbeaten Newcastle Futsal Club to advance
to the final of the competition.  Unfortunately the lads seemed to run
out of steam and lost 3-0 meaning they advanced to the plate Semi
finals where they managed a good win over Stocksfield with two goals
from josh.   An excellent plate final saw the lads put in a great
effort to overcome North Shields 2-1 with goals from Aidan and a late
strike from Josh.  A great day had by all and 4 new lads playing in
the team settled in very well
